May Day (or 'Obby 'Oss Day as it is known) is the biggest day in Padstow's calendar. It is not unusual to see 30,000 people crammed into this little town on the day when Padstonians from all over the world return to their roots. The origins of the Obby Oss are numerous. Some say the celebration has its roots in pagan times, others that it's a rain maker, a fertility symbol, a deterrent to a possible landing by the French some centuries ago or perhaps a welcome to the summer.
5th - 6th May 2018
A celebration of Cornish music and art featuring life size puppets, a drum band and a 28ft giant effigy re-enacting the famous Cornish legend of the giant called Bolster. A great day out for all the family.

This festival takes place on May Day across the villages of Millbrook, Cawsand and Kingsand in the Rame Peninsula and is well worth some attention. The historic Black Prince Flower Boat Procession is an annual event and traditionally took place to bid farewell to the winter cold and welcome spring sunshine.

The famous Flora Day celebration is believed to be pre-Christian and at one time during the Victorian era was banned as being "a drunken revelry." Dancing begins at 7am. A great family day out.

BIG bubbles, square bubbles, caterpillar bubbles, wiggly worm bubbles and sheep bubbles are just some of the bubbles which will be floating around the BIG Sheep on Saturday 26th May as Captain Coconut attempts to beat the current world record for number of bubbles stacked which is currently 21 bubbles!!

Now in its 15th year, Open Studios Cornwall 2018 will see artists, craftsmen and designers opening their studios and workshops to the public from Saturday 27th May to Sunday 4th June. Grab a guide, create your very own art trail, follow the orange Os and explore the landscape as well as creative Cornwall from Coverack to Crackington Haven, Penzance to Port Isaac and Lamorna to Lanreath.

The Folk Festival is a friendly mix of folk concerts, workshops and themed events held annually on the late May Bank Holiday weekend. It features dance displays, music and song all based in and around the North Cornwall coastal town of Bude.

Celebrating life on the River Fal this is a community festival encompassing over 150 events, including a fish festival, gig racing, swimming, wildlife walks and lots more.
